£25,000 – £30,000 basic plus commissions, OTE £50,000-£60,000 plus car and benefits

Our client is a growing privately owned company specialising in supplying the furniture trade with a wide range of fabrics and products. They are one of the country’s pre-eminent providers of fabrics used in bedding applications and are dedicated to providing premium quality, up to date and innovative textiles. They are now looking to find a Sales Executive to join the team at their head office.

This is a new role which will an enable an experienced and ambitious Sales Executive to take on a serious challenge entailing the following:

  • developing new sales from existing customers for new product lines
  • developing new customers from a mix of field sales activity and cold calling, typically 4 days per week, operating from home/your car
  • cold calling
  • key account management and extensive visiting of customers to nurture relationships, particularly in the North of England but also across the UK
  • strategic approaches to target companies including many of the UKs largest mattress manufacturers to pitch for new accounts
  • extensive visits to prospects
  • liaison with the company’s Managing Director to establish and target key prospects
  • one day in the office per week, handling a mix of duties including admin, input on deliveries, diary scheduling, etc
  • liaison with suppliers on new product releases

The successful candidate will be an experienced sales professional, with a proven background in winning new business, typically with at least 10 years sales/business development experience and ideally, some of this will have been gained within a relevant sector such as textiles, mattresses, home décor, furnishings, etc. The chosen individual will have also been involved in the successful management of existing customer accounts and the maximisation of sales opportunities from these accounts.

In terms of general characteristics, the successful person will need to be very driven, highly motivated to sell, customer focussed, comfortable being out on the road for 4 days per week, possess excellent communications skills and be appreciative of the difference in customer types and be able to adapt themselves to these different customer types as appropriate. Generally, the new incumbent will be/possess:

The commission structure has no upper limit and the OTE of £60,000 is highly achievable through a mix of hard work, strategic focus and traditional sales skills including cold calling, face to face visits/walk-ins and targeted marketing to get in front of the right contacts.
