The solution comes in the form of a temporary battery which can be hired, fully charged and swapped in to the vehicle as an auxiliary battery which is supported by a network of sites and complemented by a sophisticated control package allowing customers to plan their journey using an online route planner via smartphone or satnav and to book ahead ensuring units are readily available which will overcome the problems associated with electric vehicle limited range. At an early stage, this concept needs an initial 60,000 to achieve proof of concept and thereafter, in the region of £0.8m to take it to start up.
